Oba Femi’s time at the top of WWE NXT has come to a sudden and dramatic end. Oba Femi officially vacated the NXT Championship following his successful title defense in the main event of NXT New Year’s Evil on January 6. Competing in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center, Femi defeated TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater to retain the gold. After the match he left the NXT Championship in the middle of the ring, a move that signals his imminent transition to WWE’s main roster, which has been promoted with vignettes airing on WWE programming this week.

Bodyslam is reporting that Oba Femi’s name is being discussed for creative plans on the Raw brand. It’s being said that Femi’s presentation has been a major hit with many in the company, and he is viewed not only as a big piece of the future, but also the now.

According to Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select there are creative pushes for Femi to be “featured prominently” at WWE WrestleMania 42. It’s believed that Femi will debut on the main roster “near the top of the card.”

Following this week’s episode of NXT, Sean Ross Sapp was told that Oba Femi relinquished the NXT Championship due to his imminent main roster plans as those controlling his creative on the main roster didn’t want him taking another loss.

A number of NXT stars have been making moves recently as Trick Williams joined SmackDown last week, and Je’Von Evans signed his Raw contract on Monday night.
