The TNA Invasion continues on the September 30th, edition of WWE NXT. The show featured the NXT return of Mustafa Ali, who cut a promo during the Tuesday show.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Ali’s promo was very well received by both NXT and TNA officials. Ali, who was released from WWE just before he was originally scheduled to challenge for the NXT North American Championship at a pay-per-view event, referenced that moment during his promo.
Fightful notes that NXT executive producer Shawn Michaels was adamantly against Ali’s release, having plans for the wrestler and wanting to make him the NXT North American Champion. Ali even went so far as having NA Title gear made.
As we previously reported here on prowrestlenew.com, WWE has renamed the upcoming NXT vs. TNA special from “Invasion” to “Showdown.” The “Invasion” title drew pushback since the October 7 event date coincides with the second anniversary of a Hamas attack on Israel.
