It was announced that DarkState would be getting their rematch against The Hardys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) for the NXT Tag Team Championship at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc.
During a video package promo from The DarkState who declared their intention to regain the NXT Tag Team Championship at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc. The Hardys then hack into the feed. Matt and Jeff walked themselves into the Lake of Reincarnation, and then they transformed into their “Broken” characters. Matt Hardy reappeared as “Broken” Matt, and Jeff Hardy as “Brother Nero.” This marks the return of the “Broken” gimmick.
With everything being said and done, Broken” Matt and Brother Nero accepted the challenge from Dark State. They announced that the NXT Tag Team Championship match at Halloween Havoc will now be contested as a “Broken Rules Match.”

- NXT Tag Team Championship — Broken Rules Match: The Hardys (Broken Matt & Brother Nero) (c) vs. DarkState
- NXT North American Championship — Day of the Dead Match: Ethan Page (c) vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
- NXT Championship: Ricky Saints (c) vs. Trick Williams
- NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Tatum Paxley
- NXT Women’s North American Championship: ZARIA (c) vs. Blake Monroe
- Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater vs. Mr. Iguana & La Parka
