WWE And AEW are two competing professional wrestling companies. However, they have distinct differences in their creative structure.
In a Q&A session with Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp on October 19, 2025, he was asked about the current writing teams for WWE And AEW he breaks it down step-by-step on who is the leader of creative for both companies.
As For WWE, everything falls under Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s leadership. The co-lead writers on SmackDown are Brian ‘Road Dogg’ James and John Swikata. Jonathan Baekstrom and Ryan Ward serve as the Raw co-lead writers.
In addition, Ed Koskey oversees and edits scripts on RAW, and all WWE lead writers report to Triple H, with Bruce Prichard acting as the liaison between the teams and the Chief Content Officer.
While AEW’s creative structure is different than WWE. Tony Khan oversees all creative decisions as the final say, similar to Triple H’s role in WWE. Instead of lead writers, AEW has several contributors, including RJ City, Will Washington, Sonjay Dutt, QT Marshall, and Jenn Pepperman. Coaches also have a big creative input.
