The incident occurred in the opening match of the evening, As Alexander was putting Ibushi up on the top turnbuckle he got into a position for what looked like a death Valley Driver, but Alexander lost his balance and Ibushi ended up going backwards onto the barricade from above the top rope.
Following the fall, Ibushi began grabbing at his lower body, medical staff quickly attended to the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. He was stretchered out of the arena and later confirmed on social media that he had suffered a broken femur and required surgery.
Ibushi took to social media, to reveal that doctors have estimated a one-year recovery period, with an additional year before he could step in the ring.
“My current condition. One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again. I believe in myself more than the doctors. I absolutely don’t believe in that. I know I have amazing DNA that gives me the ability to heal!!”
