AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page vs. Samoa Joe in a steel cage match took place at the AEW Full Gear.
The match starts off with both men circling the mat before locking up and Joe sends Page to the corner for some hard strikes. Page then fights back, eventually sending Joe into the side of the cage for a near fall before Joe gets some revenge, sending Page into the cage for his troubles.
Both men are busted open early as Joe goes back to work, pulling off Page’s boot before sending him to the corner for some stomps to the head. Page then fights back, now using his own boot against Joe before charging at him with it. Page then goes for a cover, but only gets a one count.
Page then brings Joe to his feet for some hard strikes before sending him face first into the side of the cage, only making things worse for him. Joe then manages to turn it back around as he hits some some elbow shots on the head of Page before they once again trade strikes back and forth. Joe then sends Page into the cage with a back elbow strike. Page is then trapped as Joe hits a flurry of offense and it culminates in an enziguiri.
Page is slow to his feet as he gets back in the ring and both men going back at it until Page goes for a chokehold, only to be driven away by Joe who stomps at him before pulling off the turnbuckle pad. Page then manages to fight back to his feet, going to the turnbuckle but Joe catches him, looking for a muscle buster.
Page then attacks the cut on Joe’s head to fend him off, climbing up even higher before Joe looks for an avalanche muscle buster only to be knocked off by Page. We then see Katsuyori Shibata coming to the cage, climbing up the side to intervene but Eddie Kingston pulls him down to keep him at bay.
This is then followed by the arrival of Powerhouse Hobbs who nails Kingston before basically ripping the lock off the cage door. He is then fended off by Page, but not before the referee gets knocked down as Joe goes for a Coquina Clutch only for Page to counter into a Dead Eye.
Page then goes for a cover, but the referee is still out as HOOK comes down to the ring to try and wake up the referee. When the referee is slow to get up, HOOK grabs the World Title and nails Page with it. He then leaves the ring as Joe hits Page for a Muscle Buster for the win.
After the match, the cage is raised back up as Joe’s partners applauds him but the celebration is cut short as the lights go out. We then get a glimpse of what is revealed to be Prince Nana, saying “we’re in the money” as the crowd chant “Whose House” and we Swerve Strickland’s music hits. Strickland then makes his way down to the ring.
Joe then tells his students to step aside, but after staring Joe, Strickland immediately goes after one of Joe’s students as Joe takes his leave. This then leads to the rest of The Opps going after Strickland, but he fights them off leading to a Killshot on one student and a House Call on another.
Another student then tries to blindside Strickland, but takes a Buckshot Lariat from Page instead. Page then stands alongside Strickland and both men stare Joe and the Opps down as Strickland’s music plays once more and the show comes to a close.
