WWE Reportedly Interested In David Finlay

WWE is reportedly keeping a close eye on a familiar name as it looks ahead to future roster additions. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, David Finlay has been discussed internally as a strong potential signing for WWE, with particular interest centered around the NXT brand.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted that formal negotiations have not yet begun. However, interest within WWE is said to be significant, especially as Finlay’s current commitments with NJPW are nearing their conclusion. Finlay, whose full name is David Stephen Finlay III, is the son of WWE legend and current producer Fit Finlay, giving him a direct family connection to the company.

Finlay is a fourth-generation wrestler and has established himself as a major figure in NJPW. He currently leads the Bullet Club War Dogs and has held the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship twice. His position within the company has continued to grow, highlighted by his victory in the 2025 New Japan Cup.

Despite his success in Japan, reports indicate that Finlay is hoping to spend more time in the United States in 2026, making a transition to WWE a logical next step for the 32-year-old.

As seen during the January 6th 2026 edition of WWE NXT, general manager Ava teased the idea of new wrestlers taking advantage of opportunities as a result of main roster call-ups.

Stay tuned for more updates.
