Here are the results from August 1st, Episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown.
John Cena’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring as a loud “John Cena sucks” chant begins from the crowd and Wade Barrett checks in from the commentary desk. Cena then gets in the ring and a mixed chant from the crowd of “Let’s go Cena, Cena sucks” follows. Cena then points to Mark Nash, who introduces him as the “Greatest of all time, the never seen 17, gracing Newark with his presence one final time, he is the last real Champion, John Cena”.
Cena is about to speak and we hear Cody’s theme as he makes his way down to the ring. Both men are face to face in the ring and the fans sing “Cody, Cody Rhodes”. Cena then puts his finger up and says “Cody Rhodes, I told you that I was exhausted.” Cena then begins to tell Cody that a match at SummerSlam would be too difficult to him, but he did not listen and he assaulted him, forged his signature and forced him into one of the most dangerous matches in WWE on one of its grandest stages for its biggest Championship. Cena then tells Cody he has one thing to say to him and that is thank you because that was the boot in the ass that he did.
Cena then says for 25 years, day in and day out, he forged a reputation off hard work, honesty and respect and he now realizes that five months ago, he flushed it down the toilet, chasing someone’s idea to make shocking TV. Cena then says they did but the dust settles and everyone goes back to their normal lives and the one’s who were on his team left and they left him alone trying to pretend that he is someone that he is not.
Cena then raises the title and says he wants to leave with that, after his last match, he wants to take the title home with him. Cena then says it’s not because he wants to ruin wrestling as he loves wrestling. Cena then says it’s because after he is gone, he doesn’t want the fans to forget about him. Cena then says he was so hung up on how they might see him tomorrow, he forgot to realize how stupid he looks today. Cena then says everyone tried to tell him but he didn’t listen. Cena then says Cody tried to tell him, but he didn’t listen. Cena then says says Cody did what a good friend should do, he forced him to face it, he forced him into a fight. Cena then says the fight will be brutal, he will dig down and be who he really is. Cena then tells Cody to mark his calendar, August 1, 2025, Newark, New Jersey, the day that he came back to WWE.
Cena then says he doesn’t know who leaves with it on Sunday, but he knows who wins and that is everyone. Cena then says he is finally over his own BS and we finally get to see Cody Rhodes against the greatest of all time at his best, with something to prove, in a main event Street Fight which Cody wanted. Cena then tells Cody, “If you want some, come get some”. Cena then says on Sunday, the only platinum rapper showing up to whoop his ass is him. Cena then says “The champ is here” and he raises his title in the air with the fans going crazy. Cody then grabs two beers, looks at Cena and tells him “Welcome back, John Cena”. Cody then hands Cena a beer and Cena looks around. Cena then shakes Cody’s hand, they toast and drink. Cena then raises the beer in the air as Cody leaves the ring. Cody then looks at Cena and Cody heads to the back. A loud “Cena” chant from the crowd the begins as he stands on the second rope with the title and his music hits. Cena then walks to the back, shaking the hands of the fans.
We see Jelly Roll training in a ring and Logan Paul shows up and tells the trainers that they are doing the Lord’s work. Jelly Roll then tells Paul to get in the ring and he does. Jelly Roll then gets Paul in the corner, but Drew McIntyre shows up and breaks it up. He then pushes Paul into Jelly Roll. They then grab Jelly Roll and Drew hits Jelly Roll with a Claymore Kick. WWE trainers then get in the ring and break it up.
WWE Women’s United States Championship Match:“The Beautiful Madness” Giulia (c) vs. Zelina Vega
The match starts off with both women exchanging reversals and Giulia trips Vega down. Giulia then goes for the cover, but Vega kicks out. Giulia then hits some chops to the chest and she hits a suplex. Giulia then goes for the cover, but Vega kicks out. Giulia then goes to the ropes, but Vega slams her down and Giulia goes to the outside of the ring. Vega is on the ring apron and she hits the double knees to the face of Giulia.
Vega then climbs the top rope, but Giulia slows her down with a right hand. Giulia then hits a butterfly suplex off the top rope and follows it up with a knee to the face. Giulia then lifts Vega up and she hits the Northern Lights Bomb. Giulia then goes for the cover, but Vega kicks out. Giulia then goes for another Northern Lights Bomb, but Vega reverses it into a cover and Giulia kicks out. Giulia then goes for a clothesline, but Vega ducks and hits a back cracker. Vega then climbs the top rope and goes for a moonsault, but Giulia gets her knees up. Giulia then hits a Northern Lights Bomb. She then goes for the cover and gets the win.

We then head to the back, where Cathy Kelley is with Solo Sikoa and the MFT’s. Sikoa tells Kelley that he is worried about his title and his MFT’s. Sikoa then says tonight Jimmy Uso is going to get a big boot into his big mouth from Talla Tonga. Sikoa then says tonight is about sending a message. Sikoa then says get in where you fit in, yadda mean and they walk away. Kelley then says she doesn’t know what Sikoa means.
Santos Escobar and AAA Tag Team Champions Los Garza (Angel and Berto) then make their way down to the ring for their open challenge.
Legado Del Fantasma are in the ring and Escobar says it is time for everyone to stand up and show respect for the AAA Tag Team Champions. Escobar then says they demand respect, not that they are familiar with that. Escobar then issues an open challenge and out comes Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown.
AAA Tag Team Championship Open Challenge: Legado Del Fantasma’s Los Garza (Angel and Berto) (c) vs. Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown
The match starts off with Angel and Psycho Clown. Psycho Clown then hits a hurricanrana and follows it up with a right hand. Psycho Clown then hits a spring board cross body. He then knocks Berto off the ring apron and hits a back breaker onto Angel. He then hits a super kick and Berto comes in, but he is hit with a right hand. He then hits a forearm on Angel and follows it up with a splash. He then goes for the cover, but Angel kicks out. Berto is then tagged in. Berto then trips Psycho Clown down onto the mat and hits him with right hands. Berto then hits a kick to the side of the head and Angel is tagged in. They then double team Psycho Clown. Angel then goes for the cover, but Psycho Clown kicks out. Angel then hits a snap mare and follows it up with a drop kick. He then goes for the cover, but Psycho Clown kicks out. Psycho Clown then goes to the ropes and he hits a kick to the face.
Berto is then tagged in and he grabs Psycho Clown by the leg, but Psycho Clown makes the tag and Mr. Iguana is tagged in. Mr. Iguana then hits a head scissor take down and follows it up with a helicopter kick. He then gets the Iguana in his hand and Angel comes in, who goes for a right hand but the Iguana grabs stops him. He then tries to bounce off the top rope, loses his footing but lands on his feet. He then sends Angel and Berto to the outside. Mr. Iguana then goes for a splash, but Los Garza catches him. Psycho Clown then goes for a splash, but they send Mr. Iguana into him. Berto then slams Psycho Clown down and Angel is tagged in. They then grab Mr. Iguana and place him on the top rope. Los Garza are on the second rope and they hit the MTY. Berto then goes for the cover, but Mr. Iguana kicks out. Psycho Clown is tagged in. He then goes for a cross body, but Los Garza catch him. They then hit the MTY. Berto then goes for the cover and gets the win.

We then head to the back, where Cathy Kelley is backstage with Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. They tell her that anything they have to say, they will say in the ring tonight.
We then get a video package on the 6-Way TLC Match for the WWE Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam.
Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black
The match starts off with Damian Priest hitting a hip toss, but Aleister Black gets back to his feet and hits a kick. Black then goes for another kick, but Priest blocks it and Priest delivers some kicks on him. Priest then goes for another kick, but Black rolls to the outside of the ring. Priest then goes to the outside and he jumps off the steel steps, hitting a double axe. He then sends Black back into the ring. Priest then goes on the ring apron and Black hits a kick. Black then hits a running splash over the top rope on Priest on the outside.
Black then hits a running knee to the face of Priest. He then goes for the cover, but Priest kicks out. Black then goes for another kick, but Priest blocks it. Priest then hits a right hand and follows it up with a flap jack. Priest then grabs Black by the arm and he walks the top rope, hitting a cross body. Priest then goes to the ropes and he hits a clothesline. He then goes for the cover, but Black kicks out. Priest then goes for the Razor’s Edge, but Black hits a kick. Priest then hits a kick and Black falls to the outside of the ring. Priest then goes to the outside and Black hits a knee to the face. Black then gets on the top rope and goes for a moonsault, but Priest moves out of the way. Black then lands on his feet and Priest pushes Black onto the announce desk. Priest then clears the announce desk with Black down. Priest then turns around and Black throws a steel chair onto Priest as the referee calls for the bell.

After the match, Aleister Black hits some right hands but the referee breaks it up. Black then grabs the steel chair and he hits Priest with it across the back. The referee then takes the chair from Black, but Black grabs Priest and he slams him head first into the steel steps. He then stands Priest up and Black hits Priest with the Black Mass.
We then head to the back, where we see Tiffany Stratton walking and Jade Cargill shows up. Cargill tells Tiffany that she did not need her help last week. Tiffany then tells Cargill she doesn’t want any excuses for SummerSlam. Cargill then tells Tiffany she does not have to worry about anyone or any cash-ins tomorrow.
Talla Tonga and Solo Sikoa then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Jimmy Uso follows.
Jimmy Uso vs. MFT’s Talla Tonga
The match starts off with Jimmy Uso hitting some chops to the chest of Talla Tonga and he follows it up with a right hand. Jimmy then gets Talla in the corner and Jimmy hits some right hands. Talla is out the corner, but Jimmy goes on the second rope and he jumps. Talla then hits Jim a right hand. Talla then hits a clothesline and follows it up with a leg drop. Talla then runs towards Jimmy, but Jimmy moves out of the way. Talla then goes on the ring apron and Jimmy hits a kick to the side of his head. Jimmy then hits a suicide dive on Talla, but Talla stays on his feet.
Jimmy then hits some chops to the chest of Talla, but Talla responds with a chop of his own. Talla then hits a forearm to the face of Jimmy and he goes for a splash in the corner, but Jimmy moves out of the way. Jimmy then hits a kick and follows it up with a right hand. He then tries to lift Talla up, but Talla hits a right hand and follows it up with a kick to the face of Jimmy. Jimmy is on the ring apron and he hits a kick to the side of the head. Jimmy then climbs the top rope and he jumps, but Talla catches him. He then goes for a chokeslam, but Jimmy lands on his feet. Jimmy then hits a super kick and he clotheslines Talla to the outside. Solo then gets on the ring apron, but Jimmy knocks him down. Talla then gets in the ring and Jimmy hits him with a spear. Jimmy then climbs the top rope and goes for a splash, but Talla gets his arm up. Talla then lifts him up and hits a chokeslam. Talla then goes for the cover and gets the win.

After the match, JC Mateo and Tonga Loa make their way down to the ring. They then begin stomping on Jimmy as Solo asks for the Steel Cage to be lowered down. Solo is about to go for the Samoan Spike, but Jacob Fatu makes his way out. He then gets in the ring as the cage lowers. Solo then opens the door as he and Talla Tonga leave the cage. Fatu then hits super kicks on JC and Loa. Fatu then hits a Samoan drop on Loa. He then hits a running hip attack on JC Mateo and Loa. Fatu then hits a moonsault on both men. Sikoa then yells at Fatu from the floor and tells him that the U.S. Championship belongs to him.
We then head to the back, where Cathy Kelley is with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Flair says she did not have her and Bliss as a tag team on her bingo card for 2025, but there they are. Bliss then takes it as a compliment and says that Flair does not like to use the F word. Flair then tells Bliss that they should win the Women’s Tag Team Titles first.
Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul are then shown walking in the backstage area.
Logan Paul’s music then hits and he makes his way out. He then stands on the stage as Drew’s music hits. Both men then get in the ring and Logan tells the fans they have the two best wrestlers in the industry trying to defend the company from outsiders. Logan then says no one understands what it means to compete at SummerSlam, which Jelly Roll thought was a hot dog eating contest. Paul then says he and Drew have dedicated their entire lives for this and they are sick of these outsiders making a name for themselves elsewhere and want to use WWE as a stepping stone. Paul then says that is impossible to do unless you are Logan Paul. He then tells Jelly Roll that Jelly Roll is an outsider, not a wrestler. Paul then says Jelly is a country star, not a superstar and he will never ever belong in the WWE.
Drew then tells Randy that whatever happens to Smelly Hole tomorrow is on him. Drew then says just because Jelly Roll asked for a match it does not mean he should have given him one. Drew then says you only talk to God when you need a favor and Orton is selfish having God on speed dial because he is facing him.
We then see a car pull in to the arena and out steps Jelly Roll. Drew then tells him the match is not happening if he comes out. Jelly Roll then taps on the hood of the car and out steps Randy Orton. Both men then begin walking to the ring as Orton’s music hits. Nick Aldis then comes out, trying to stop it but Orton and Jelly Roll keep walking down to the ring. They then get in the ring as all four men begin to fight. WWE security then run down to break it up. Logan Paul then rolls to the outside of the ring and Orton kicks Drew to the outside. Security then breaks it up as the fans chant “Randy”. The fans then cheer and Orton hits the RKO on two of the three security guards in the ring. He then stops at the third and Jelly Roll chokeslams the security guard. Orton’s music then hits as SmackDown comes to a close.
