IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Nigel McGuinness took place at today’s AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door.
The match starts off with both men exchanging holds and snap mares. McGuinness then takes Sabre down with a side headlock for a one count before Sabre breaks free. Sabre then takes McGuinness down a couple of times. McGuinness then breaks free from a wristlock take down. Sabre then goes right back on the attack and stays on the wrist of McGuinness before McGuinness fights to his feet, only to be taken right back down. Sabre then attacks the hand and arm of McGuinness even as he tries to get back on his feet.
In the near end Sabre then goes up top, only to get caught with a Tower of London that gets McGuinness a near fall before Sabre breaks free. We then get an exchange of pinfall attempts that ends with Sabre managing to keep McGuinness on his shoulders down just long enough to pick up the win.
